This is a boat trip welllworth taking. It gives a small taste, showcasing the rugged coastline of Ireland, with beauty and mystery. The trip is just the right length of time. The commentary gives local history and is informative. Take something warm.
Had a great time on this cruise. The views were amazing and the whole experience felt relaxed and well run. The captain was excellent very friendly, and clearly experienced, which made the trip even better. He interacted with passengers explained what we were seeing and even let me see where the boat was being driven and took a photo, which was a really nice touch. The boat itself was comfortable and the route around the cliffs was stunning. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Howth or looking for something different to do.
I had an absolutely wonderful time during the ride. Every moment on the water was filled with excitement and beauty, as the waves danced around us in such a captivating way. The movement of the water was refreshing and thrilling, making the entire journey truly memorable. Above all, the mastery and confidence with which the vessel was handled stood out remarkably. It was clear that the captain’s skill and experience made the ride not only enjoyable but also safe and smooth. Overall, it was an amazing experience that I will gladly remember and appreciate for a long time.
The captain's explanation was very interesting and it was very nice to see because he explained where the dolphins were. And I felt so good looking at the open sea. When I lived in New York, I honestly didn't want to look at it because it was by the sea, but after living in Dallas for a long time, I missed the sea, so I just liked it.
Within minutes we were taken to a shrimp boat that was cleaning fish and there were probably a thousand birds and countless dolphins enjoying the waste. Then we were taken to another area close by and lots of dolphins were swimming around and there was of course a gorgeous sunset. Staff was very nice. All women which I think is great. Not the most comfortable seating but we stood almost the whole time so it didnt matter. Loved it. My 80 year old mother LOVED it!
We saw so many dolphins! It was amazing. The tour guide did a fantastic job telling us about dolphin behavior and other facts. We were lucky to be in the Sound when two shrimp boats came in, which attracted even more dolphins. It was a memorable activity and I’m very happy to have gone on this short cruise.
It was cut short due to an incoming storm; however, we missed nothing! My grand children and the adults had an amazing experience!
We booked the Sunset Cruise for the Friday evening of a sunny summer day, and the views were breathtaking. The cruise takes you around Ireland’s Eye Island, allowing you to get closer views of the magnificent cliffs. During the evening, when all the birds have returned to their nests, you can witness a magnificent view of the island. Some birds are still hunting for food on the water, and the view of them flying while the sun sets behind the beautiful orange sky is simply mesmerising. I highly recommend this cruise for young couples or an unforgettable date night in Dublin. Families can also enjoy an evening out on this cruise. Occasionally, you may spot seals peeking out of the water and looking at you.
Took the Howth Cliff Cruise recently and honestly, the views are absolutely stunning if you can manage to squeeze out to the front of the boat—seeing Ireland’s Eye and all the seabirds up close is really special. That said, the boat itself could use some TLC, and the windows are basically impossible to see out of, so don’t expect much if you’re hoping to enjoy the scenery from inside. If your cruise is full, you’ll want to be first on board to grab a good spot, otherwise you might be stuck at the back or inside with no view. Overall, it’s worth it for the scenery, just go in with realistic expectations about the boat and try to get outside for the best experience.
This was our second sunset dolphin cruise with Vagabond. Each sailings was different but neither disappointed. We learned something new and met interesting fellow travelers.
